Cookie Notice
What we store in your browser, and why. The answer is: very little, all of it necessary to keep you signed in, and none of it used to follow you around the internet.
The short version
This website sets no cookies of its own and carries no advertising or analytics trackers. There is no consent banner because there is nothing to consent to — under the ePrivacy Directive, consent is required for storage that is not strictly necessary, and we do not use any.
The platform at portal.icanmena.com uses a small number of strictly necessary items to keep you signed in and to protect your session. Those are listed below.
This website (www.icanmena.com)
We serve our own fonts and images rather than loading them from a third party, so browsing this site does not expose you to anyone else’s tracking. We do not run Google Analytics, advertising pixels, session recording, or heat-mapping.
Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs — IP address, request time, page requested, browser type — for security and diagnostics. These are described in the Privacy Policy and are kept for up to 12 months.
The ICAN platform (portal.icanmena.com)
In short: Everything below is strictly necessary. Blocking it stops you signing in.
| What | Type | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|---|
| Authentication token | Cookie / local storage | Keeps you signed in as you move between pages, and proves your session to the server | Until sign-out or expiry |
| Refresh token | Local storage | Renews your session without making you sign in repeatedly | Until sign-out or expiry |
ican_remember_me | Local storage | Remembers whether you asked us to keep you signed in on this device | Until you clear it |
ican_session_active | Session storage | Tells us the browser session is still open, so we can sign you out when it closes if you asked us to | Until the tab closes |
| PKCE / state values | Local storage | Protects the sign-in exchange against interception and cross-site request forgery | Seconds — cleared once sign-in completes |
These are set by the platform and by our authentication provider, Supabase, acting on our behalf. None is used for advertising, profiling, or tracking you across other websites.
If you sign in with Google or Microsoft
Choosing to sign in with a Google or Microsoft account sends you to that provider to authenticate. While you are on their page, their own cookies and privacy terms apply — we have no control over them and cannot see them. They return your name and email address to us, nothing more. You can always use an email address and password instead.
How to control cookies
Every major browser lets you view, block and delete cookies and site storage, usually under Settings → Privacy. Because everything we set on the platform is strictly necessary, blocking it will prevent you from signing in or will sign you out unexpectedly. Blocking storage for this website has no effect, as we set none.
If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, we already honour the substance of it: we do not track you across sites in the first place.
Changes and contact
If we ever add analytics or any non-essential storage, we will update this notice and put a proper consent mechanism in place before setting anything — not after.
